Remember:
Horse Pens 40 is a "LEAVE NO TRACE" park !!
Thanks for your help and cooperation.

Attn. Climbers:
Thanks to all of you who have generously donated items to our Gear Recycling Program. These items help us reduce our costs and keep our prices down. Thanks for your consideration and your generosity.

Horse Pens 40 still needs your old ropes.
Long or short, small or large, thick or thin, we can use them all.

Old carabiners and other hardware that are taken out-of-service can be used in non-critical applications as well.

We especially need STATIC LINE.  Please donate your retired climbing (or any other) ropes or cord to HP40 for utility and other uses around the park. We use these ropes for tying down, binding, pulling trees or fencing, horse tack, etc. We can use any lengths and sizes. Also any other gear, webbing, tarps, containers, cords, etc. that we might be able to use. We do not use these items for any critical purposes, where a failure would cause injury.

Recycling these still usable items in a non-critical way can save the park a considerable amount of money, helping us keep our prices low, as well as helping preserve scarce and valuable natural resources. We appreciate it greatly, and will put these items to good use.

We also gladly accept your still useable pressurized fuel cylinders, and your unused Coleman fuel, etc. In addition to making your trip home much safer, donating these items also helps your fellow boulderers, and saves the fuel from being wasted. (HP40 provides this fuel for free to boulderers to be used in our rental lanterns for night climbing.)

Drop them at the Country Store on your next visit! We thank you very much!!

Some tips for our bouldering guests:

> >   Night bouldering is FREE for registered campers.   < <

>>   NIGHT BOULDERING WITHOUT CAMPING IS ALSO AVAILABLE    <<

Registered Campers may boulder at night for NO EXTRA CHARGE with no special permission necessary.

Night bouldering permit -- (without camping) -- = $10.00 per person

Day Users must come into the office at sundown to register and pay for night bouldering. Night bouldering permission good from Sundown til 2am (later by approval only).

Registered Campers may boulder 24 hours a day with no special permission needed.

ALSO NOTE:  HP40 PRICES REQUIRE PAYMENT IN CASH -- All HP40 prices reflect a 10% discount that applies to payments made with CASH ONLY and can not be obtained through any other means of payment.

Add 10% to all HP40 prices if paying with any method other than cash. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CHECKS!

DO NOT DEPEND ON OUR CREDIT CARD MACHINE TO WORK !
Our credit card machine is often unusable due to our notoriously unreliable antiquated landline phone service (We are the very last phone line in our area code, and it is a very long and tiny copper wire that goes back to the civilized world from here.)

Anyway, it is a 10 mile round trip to an ATM. Be smart and bring enough cash to get you through just in case.

To avoid any problems and to get the best prices,
PLEASE BRING CASH ! !

And please remember:

Bouldering is the only type of climbing permitted at HP40.

No ropes, anchors, or 'highballing' is allowed.

Bouldering can be dangerous, and injuries are always possible. Please be careful!!

PROPER CRASH PADS and SPOTTERS are ALWAYS REQUIRED at HP40.

Please climb safely whenever and wherever you climb.

Horse Pens 40 and the Schultz Family can assume no responsiblity for your safety, but we do still care about you anyway.

Sandstone can be very fragile, and the natural life on the unused areas is very important to us and is strongly protected. No brushing is necessary here and we discourage even the use of natural hair brushes for applying chalk.
All cleaning of rock for new lines must be approved by our climbing guru, ADAM HENRY.

Stay on trails. No Bushwhacking!  PLEASE DO NOT STEP ON PLANTS AND MOSSES.
We have many rare, protected, threatened, and endangered species in the park. Some only live here on Chandler Mtn., and it is critical that they are preserved.

PLEASE LEAVE NO TRACE OF YOUR VISIT ! !

No damaging of plants or trees or removal of rocks at base of boulders. Please do not move any rocks at all!!
All natural creatures and features, including all natural stones and sandstone, are protected here as if they are all endangered species.
No damage is acceptable, and no intentional damage will be tolerated.

PLEASE "LEAVE NO TRACE" OF YOUR VISIT HERE ! !

NO CAMPING, CAMPFIRES, OR STOVES ARE ALLOWED IN THE NATURE AREAS.
All campfires must be in an established fire ring.
(For those who went to college, that means a campfire ring that is already there.)

No building new fire rings or moving of old ones.

NOTICE: For ecological reasons, NO GATHERING OF FIREWOOD is allowed inside the park. You are welcome to bring your own firewood or we will sell you some at a reasonable price, delivered to your campsite.

60% of the all the money recieved from firewood sales here goes to feed the horses in the HP40 Equine Rescue Program.

Where else could you go sit around a warm campfire eating s'mores and staying warm and also keep rescued horses fat and healthy at the same time?

PLEASE "LEAVE NO TRACE" OF YOUR VISIT HERE ! !

Please check our PARK RULES PAGE for more inportant rules to help preserve the park for generations to come.
