Attn. Climbers:
Thanks to all of you who have generously donated items to our Gear Recycling Program. These items help us reduce our costs and keep our prices down. Thanks for your consideration and your generosity.

Horse Pens 40 still needs your old ropes. We especially need STATIC LINE.  Please donate your retired climbing (or any other) ropes or cord to HP40 for utility and other uses around the park. We use these ropes for tying down, binding, pulling trees or fencing, horse tack, etc. We can use any lengths and sizes. Also any other gear, webbing, tarps, containers, cords, etc. that we might be able to use. We do not use these items for any critical purposes, where a failure would cause injury.

Recycling these still usable items in a non-critical way can save the park a considerable amount of money, helping us keep our prices low, as well as helping preserve scarce and valuable natural resources. We appreciate it greatly, and will put these items to good use.

We also gladly accept your still useable pressurized fuel cylinders, and your unused Coleman fuel, etc. In addition to making your trip home much safer, donating these items also helps your fellow boulderers, and saves the fuel from being wasted. (HP40 provides this fuel for free to boulderers to be used in our rental lanterns for night climbing.)

Drop them at the Country Store on your next visit! We thank you very much!!

We are looking forward to hosting this unique charity event for the FOURTH YEAR.

We expect this years event to be as successful as our many other past bouldering events.

Both SloperFest and the Triple Crown have always been very successful, very special, and very important charity events, both to the park and to the entire bouldering community, as well as to the charities that benefit from them.

We are certain that this years

Southern SloperFest

 HP40 Slap-N-Jam 2009

will be another of those unforgettable bouldering events that you always expect to find at

 Horse Pens 40.

NO PETS ARE ALLOWED ON HP40 PROPERTY (outside your vehicle) EXCEPT IN THE LARGE GRASS FIELD OUTSIDE THE MIDDLE GATE !!
PETS ARE TOTALLY BANNED FROM ALL SCHEDULED EVENTS, COMPS, AND FESTIVALS !!
We love dogs (and own several), but they can unintentionally have a negative impact on the natural life in the park. Dogs must remain in your vehicle except in the designated exercise areas.
PLEASE LEAVE YOUR PET AT HOME !!

Boulder Pads are always required for bouldering. Rental Pads are available at the Country Store for 5.00 per day.

NO WIRE BRUSHES ARE ALLOWED AT ANY TIME !!! PLEASE BRUSH LIGHTLY EVEN WITH NYLON BRUSHES!!
Sandstone can be very fragile, and the natural life on the unused areas is important to us and is protected. Cleaning of rock for new lines must be approved by our climbing guru, ADAM HENRY.

Stay on trails. No Bushwhacking!  PLEASE DO NOT STEP ON PLANTS AND MOSSES.
We have many rare, protected, threatened, and endangered species in the park.

No damaging of plants or removal of rocks at base of rock. Please do not move any rocks at all!!
All natural creatures and features, including all natural stones and sandstone, are protected here as if they are all endangered species.
No damage is acceptable, and no intentional damage will be tolerated.

PLEASE "LEAVE NO TRACE" OF YOUR VISIT HERE ! !

No camping, stoves, or fires in the nature or boulder areas. All campfires must be in an established fire ring.

(For those who went to college, that means a campfire ring that is already there.)

No building new fire rings or moving of old ones.

NOTICE: For ecological reasons, NO GATHERING OF FIREWOOD is allowed inside the park. You are welcome to bring your own firewood or we will sell you some at a reasonable price, delivered to your campsite.

60% of the all the money recieved from firewood sales here goes to feed the horses in the HP40 Equine Rescue Program.

Where else could you go sit around a warm campfire eating s'mores and staying warm and also keep horses fat and healthy at the same time?

PLEASE "LEAVE NO TRACE" OF YOUR VISIT HERE ! !

Please check our PARK RULES PAGE for more inportant rules to help preserve the park for generations to come.
